Stricklandgate is a Fair Trade Church

We run a Traidcraft Stall every Sunday after morning worship in the hall.
Last year we sold goods to the value of £1,700

Traidcraft fights poverty through trade, helping people in developing countries to transform their lives.

Established in 1979 as a Christian response to poverty, Traidcraft is the UK's leading fair trade organisation. It runs development programmes in some of the poorest countries in the world, and campaigns in the UK and internationally to bring about trade justice.

Why buy fair trade?

AV Thomas is a model tea farmer. He is passing on his expertise to other farmers in Kerala, ensuring quality in the Fairtrade tea sold.

Fetching water is quicker and safer for Doricca and Mary now they have a borehole, paid for with the Fairtrade premium on locally grown sugar.

Why is it better to buy from a Traidcraft stall than a supermarket?

Although fair-trade products are now widely available in supermarkets, they can only work with Fairtrade certified food producers who can supply them with the volumes that they need. So they offer no opportunitiy to commodity producers who aren't yet at that level, or to the millions struggling to support themselves and their families making crafts, textiles, jewelry, paper and card products. Traidcraft can and does. Thankyou to all our supporters who help to make a difference to so many families who can look forward to a brighter future because of what you do.
